“Onto this day, Yes I look back on the memories we had with her, some people aren’t that lucky so I cherish the memories we had. But the sadness will forever be there in our hearts, we will always wish for her to be with us. “
On 29th of November 2020 unknown to me I went into labour, at this time I was 25 weeks pregnant. The nurses/midwifes and doctors in MAU were brilliant, they were very calm and explained to me I was 4cm and transferred me to the delivery ward. I contacted my husband who they let come straight away. The nurses and doctors in the delivery suite were very kind, and understanding. I couldn’t of asked for anymore and they managed to stop my contractions/labour for 48 hours.
On the 1/12/2020 I very quickly went into fast labour, all the doctors, neonatal and midwifes were yet again brilliant. I got told “Congratulations, It’s a girl” (We did not know what we were having). Our baby was born, and took straight up to neonatal where they looked after her until I was ready to go up.
We met our baby girl and named her. She was getting stronger and stronger each day, they were so happy with her progress and how well she was coming along, but we got told “It’s going to be a rollercoaster”.
On the 7/12/20 we had the phone call that nobody would want to have, the worst feeling in the whole entire world. To come to the hospital quick. Unfortunately our baby had gone to the angels.
The neonatal team were amazing, especially who I would like to mention is Vicky. She let our families come, and say goodbye to our girl. They had never met her before due to coronavirus. We sat with her for hours, moments we will remember forever. No matter how heart-breaking it was.
The effect this had on our families was hard, but we all came together as one. We all supported each other, what you need to remember is, everybody grieves differently. Some are quiet, some don’t know if being around is the right thing to do, and some want to be there to be with you, but no matter which one, I knew our families were all there. Feeling our hurt as much as us.
Onto this day, Yes I look back on the memories we had with her, some people aren’t that lucky so I cherish the memories we had. But the sadness will forever be there in our hearts, we will always wish for her to be with us.
