Balloons
Balloons is a charity that provides community-based support for children, young people and their families from Exeter, Mid or East Devon following the death, or before an expected death, of a significant person in their lives, such as a parent, carer or sibling.
Balloons is a newly emerging charity, largely dependent on highly skilled volunteers supporting qualified professionals, all who share an interest in supporting bereaved children and young people up to the age of eighteen.
Our aim is to inform, guide and support children and young people; to help them manage the impact of their grief and their reactions to their loss.
Children and Families in Grief
Children and Families in Grief is a charitable organisation that provides practical, emotional and creative support for children and their families in South Devon following bereavement.
Children and Families in Grief has a dedicated team who are committed to supporting families at this difficult time. The therapists are experienced, sensitive and intuitive individuals brought together by their desire to help families through the process of grief.
Children’s Hospice South West
The support we give extends to the whole family, into bereavement and beyond for as long as each family needs us.
The Sibling Service also provides specific support for bereaved children, working according to the family needs. They make use of crafts to support the grieving process, for example, making memory boxes, items for the funeral, or to put in the coffin. Children can be accompanied when visiting their sibling in Starborn if they would like this, and they can provide specific support for siblings at funerals. Follow-up support is then offered at home and contact is maintained by telephone, cards, emails and home visits. This is all carried out alongside the family relationship with Contact Pairs from the Care Team.
Cruse Bereavement Care – South West
Bereavement Counselling on a one to one basis, free. Telephone is manned from 10 am – 4 pm. Answer machine for messages when the phone is busy or out of hours. Based in Newton Abbot but Clients are visited in own homes or agreed venue. Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well being of bereaved people and to enable anyone suffering bereavement caused by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. To assist bereaved people of any age – gender – race etc to come to terms with their loss and work through their grief – to enable them to learn to live without their loved one.
Hope’s Place
Hope’s Place is a faith-based Christian charity established in 2005 to encourage emotional wholeness and healing in women and young people through counselling and education. Our non-directive, person-centred counselling and listening services provide support for women and couples with pregnancy related issues – including crisis pregnancy, post abortion counselling – baby loss and post natal depression.
Mosaic
We are a Dorset charity offering support to bereaved children, young people, parents and carers. We provide individual support and offer children and young people the opportunity to meet others and share their experiences.
Off The Record
We offer young people aged up to 25 free – confidential counselling and support.

Paul’s Fund
Paul’s Fund is a charitable trust that makes grants for a holiday break to young adults aged approx. 18 to 30 who – amongst other criteria – have been bereaved through the loss of a child. The holidays are to be taken at Paul’s Place which is located in the delightful village of Georgeham near Croyde on the beautiful North Devon coast and offers both B&B and Self-Catering accommodation. Grants from Paul’s Fund will cover the full accommodation costs of up to six people (the young adult plus a partner, family members or a friend) along with travel and daily allowances. The self catering cottage only accommodates two people but the B&B has three guest rooms (twin and double).
